Step 1: Cook the rutabaga for 40 minutes in boiling water when they are almost soft add potatoes about 30 minutes in and when they are both soft drain water keeping 1 cup
Step 2: Mash with butter to taste ( my mom would use electric mixer here)
Step 3: Seasoning to taste
Step 4: Adding water if to dry, a little bit at a time
