Bread Machine Swedish Coffee Bread

Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tablespoons butter,softened
- 3 cups flour
- 1⁄3 cup sugar
- 1 package ( 1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
- 3 teaspoons ground cardamom
- 2 egg whites, slightly beaten
- 1 tablespoons pearl sugar
How to Make

Step 1: Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select dough cycle

Step 2: Press Start.

Step 3: When the dough cycle has finished, divide into three equal portions.

Step 4: Roll each piece into a rope 12 to 14 inches long.

Step 5: Lay the three ropes side by side, then braid together.

Step 6: Tuck the ends underneath

Step 7: And place onto a greased baking sheet

Step 8: Cover loosely with a warm damp towel, and allow to rise until doubled in bulk.

Step 9: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F .

Step 10: Brush the braid with beaten egg white and sprinkle with pearl sugar.

Step 11: Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
