Step 1: Combine ginger, garlic, and vegetable oil in a large pot and saute for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Meanwhile, whisk together the cornstarch with 2 cups of the water until dissolved.
Step 3: Add cornstarch mixture, vegetarian base, and remaining water to the pot and bring to a boil.
Step 4: Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
Step 5: Add salt and pepper to taste.
