Step 1: Rinse rice and put in large covered pot with enough water to cover it by a few inches.
Step 2: Add bay leaves and soup base.
Step 3: Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat, and simmer 45-55 minutes, until rice is tender and fluffy. It should be cooked very gently.
Step 4: Drain, then add butter.
