Step 1: Sauté onions in shortening until deep golden.
Step 2: Lower flame and add all spices, cook 10 minutes. Add water if mixture sticks.
Step 3: Heat soup as directed and add to garam masala.
Step 4: Simmer 10 minutes.
Step 5: Add lemon juice just before serving.
