Step 1: Preheat oven to 325F
Step 2: Lightly grease and flour a large cookie sheet
Step 3: In a medium bowl, combine coconut, sugar, flour and salt
Step 4: Stir in egg whites and extract
Step 5: Drop coconut mixture by rounded teaspoon, 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheet
Step 6: Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until edges are golden brown
Step 7: Transfer cookies to wire rack and let cool completely
Step 8: In a heavy small sauce pan, melt the chocolate and the shortening
Step 9: Drizzle chocolate mixture over cooled cookies
