Step 1: Add first 5 ingredients to crockpot and cook on high for 3 hours.
Step 2: Add almonds and use a hand held blender to puree to soup.
Step 3: Add half of the chives.
Step 4: To serve, ladle into bowls, drizzle with cream and sprinkle with remaining chives.
