Step 1: Soak beans overnight
Step 2: In large stock pot, put the ham hocks in 6 cups water. Boil for 1 hour, covered
Step 3: Drain beans and add to pot
Step 4: Add veggies and seasonings
Step 5: Add bacon and tomato sauce
Step 6: Rinse out can with water and add to pot
Step 7: Simmer 3 hours until beans are soft
Step 8: Stirring occasionally adding water when needed
Step 9: Will need to turn down heat as it thickens and beans are closer to done ,will also stir more often so they dont burn, dont let the pot go dry,needs to be fluid
