Step 1: In a saucepan over medium high heat heat the oil and then add the next 3 ingredients (-jalapeno); saluting for 5-10 minutes or until onion is tender. Sri in the next 5 ingredients (-cumin), stirring until sugar dissolves. Stir in tomatoes, broth and the coffee and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce is reduced to 4 cups (30-40 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.
Step 2: ***can be made one week ahead, covered and chilled.
