Step 1: Heat up schmaltz or bacon drippings in a large saucepan.
Step 2: Add diced onion and saute until soft.
Step 3: Add kale and saute for a few minutes.
Step 4: Add salt, broth and smoked bacon.
Step 5: Cover saucepan and warm up mixture on medium heat for 5 minutes (do not cook longer).
Step 6: Add the grated potato and cook for a few minutes until thickened.
Step 7: Remove bacon and keep warm.
Step 8: Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Step 9: Place the smoked pork chops and/or sausages on the Kale mixture and allow to simmer on low for 15 minutes.
Step 10: Slice the bacon and place the kale, meat and bacon on a serving dish.
Step 11: May be served with boiled potatoes or home fries.
