Step 1: Cream butter till light and fluffy; then gradually add the brown sugar.
Step 2: Add yolks to creamed mixture; blend in vanilla, salt, and flour and mix well.
Step 3: Shape into 1" balls and dip in unbeaten egg whites; roll in finely chopped walnuts.
Step 4: Place 1" apart on ungreased sheet and bake in a 350 degree oven for 5 minutes at which time you will make an indentation with your thumb.
Step 5: Return to oven and finish baking just a little while longer till done; place jelly or jam in the dent when cool.
