Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°.
Step 2: Cream butter and confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 3: Beat in cooled chocolate and extract.
Step 4: Gradually beat in flour.
Step 5: Stir in chocolate chips.
Step 6: Drop dough by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
Step 7: Bake until firm, 5-7 minutes.
Step 8: Cool on pans 2 minutes.
Step 9: Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
Step 10: For icing, mix butter, confectioners' sugar, extract and enough milk to achieve desired consistency. If desired, tint green with food coloring. Spoon over cookies.
Step 11: In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Drizzle over tops.
