Step 1: Thoroughly mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla
Step 2: Add flour, salt, baking soda and coloring. Mix well
Step 3: Divide dough into 4 equal parts and shape into roll 1 inches in diameter and 10 inches long
Step 4: Wrap each roll and refrigerate 1 hour
Step 5: Heat oven to 400
Step 6: Cut rolls into 1/8 inch slices
Step 7: Place 3 slices with sides touching on ungreased baking sheet, press together. If desired, cut stems from another slice
Step 8: Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown
Step 9: Immediately remove from baking sheet
