Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup cocoa
- 1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
How to Make

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Grease and flour baking pan(s). 13x19x2, 2 9 inch pans, or 3 8 inch pans.

Step 3: Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix well.

Step 4: Pour into prepared baking pan(s).

Step 5: Bake 40 - 45 min for rectangle cake, 30 - 35 for layer cake, or until toothpick. inserted in center comes out clean.

Step 6: Frost with a frosting of choice.
