Step 1: Cake ... Whether you use a 2 lb loaf, mini loafs, or cupcake size; the method is still the same. It's quick, easy, and delicious.
Step 2: Caramel ... Unwrap the caramels, and add to a small pot, along with the cream. Bring to medium low to low heat, until everything is melted and soft. You can do this in the microwave too; and, some prefer to use a double boiler, or a bowl over a pot of boiling water. However, I find, if you just keep an eye on it, a simple pot on the stove works just fine. Once melted, remove to cool.
Step 3: Spread the cooled caramel over the top of the pound cake; then, let it set until completely cooled.
Step 4: Chocolate ... Melt the chocolate; which I do in the microwave. Medium heat for 1 minute, stir and repeat - 1 more minute, stir and repeat until smooth and creamy. You may need to do it one more time if necessary. Let it cool just a bit before spreading it on top of the caramel topped pound cake. And, don't worry if the chocolate drips down the side.
Step 5: Serve and ENJOY! ... You can also garnish with chopped nuts if you want; but, I like it as is. It's quick and easy; yet, really delicious. A scoop of vanilla is also really good.
