Step 1: Combine flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge chicken in the flour mixture. Saute chicken in oil in a large skillet for 4 minutes. Add garlic, and saute for 2 minutes. Turn chicken, add mushrooms and saute for 3 minutes.
Step 2: Add broth and the next 3 ingredients; cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 10 minutes, turning chicken occasionally.
Step 3: Remove the chicken to a serving platter; keep warm. Cook the mushroom mixture over medium heat for 7 minutes. Remove and discard garlic and bay leaf. Add the butter, stirring until the butter melts. Spoon the mushroom mixture evenly over chicken. Garnish, if desired.
