Step 1: Cut the broccoli florets into quarters and cut the stems into 1/4" pieces; let sit for 5 minutes to bring out the hidden health benefits; chop, mince, or press garlic and let that sit for 5 minutes, too.
Step 2: Fill the bottom of the steamer with 2" of water and bring to boil.
Step 3: Put in broccoli and let steam for 5 minutes; if the stems are cut any larger than 1/4", you will need to put them in 2-3 minutes before the florets are added.
Step 4: Transfer to a bowl and add the dressing if desired which does not have to be made separately; just add it and toss.
