Step 1: In a bowl, combine flour with 1 teaspoon ginger, cinnamon, allspice, and salt; mix until crumbly. RESERVE 1/3 cup of mixture.
Step 2: To remaining mixture add soda; mix.
Step 3: Add buttermilk, molasses and egg; blend.
Step 4: Pour into Pam sprayed pan and sprinkle with reserved mixture.
Step 5: Bake for 20-30 minutes until done.
Step 6: In double boiler, mix water sugar and cornstarch; cook until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients.
