Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread crumbs, water, and cream. Set the mixture aside.
Step 2: In a heavy skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté the onion until transparent. Transfer the onion to a separate mixing bowl and add the ground beef and ground pork.
Step 3: Add the salt, sugar, pepper, and bread crumb mixture, blending well.
Step 4: Shape the meat into balls about 3/4 inch in diameter.
Step 5: In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
Step 6: Brown the meatballs, turning frequently to brown evenly. Reduce the heat and cover. Continue to cook for about 10 minutes, turning frequently.
Step 7: In a saucepan, blend together the remaining ingredients.
Step 8: Cook over medium heat until thick, stirring constantly.
Step 9: Pour the sauce over the cooked meatballs.
