Step 1: Using a serrated knife slice the bread in half lengthwise.
Step 2: Using fingers hollow out the top and bottom portion of each bread half but leaving about 3/4-inch shell of white bread (discard removed bread portion or save for another use).
Step 3: In a large bowl beat soft cream cheese with mayonnaise, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce until smooth and combined.
Step 4: Mix in the cheddar cheese and green onion.
Step 5: Spread over the cut sides of the each slice.
Step 6: Layer the ham and roast beef on top and bottom bread halves, then place the sliced pickles and onions (if using) on the bottom half.
Step 7: Gently press halves together, then wrap fairly tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours or more.
Step 8: Cut into about 1-1/2-inch slices the serve.
