Step 1: If using loaf bread; place in refrigerator to allow to firm. Don't leave to long or it will become stale. (This is why I use sliced).
Step 2: Soften the butter or margarine and season with salt and pepper.
Step 3: Slice the bread thinly and remove crusts.
Step 4: Roll bread with a rolling pin to flatten slightly, & spread the crust less bread thinly with the butter mix.
Step 5: Place an asparagus spear on the edge of the bread slice and roll the bread up.
Step 6: You can use a tooth pick to hold if needed, and remove before serving.
Step 7: Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.
