Step 1: Set oven at 180dg c .
Step 2: Grease and line a 200mm bar tin.
Step 3: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 4: Mix bi-carb and water. Stir bi-carb mixture into all other ingredients (except almonds)and mix well.
Step 5: Place in pan and sprinkle with the slivered almonds.
Step 6: Bake for 45 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
Step 7: Cool on rack and cut into bars.
Step 8: Serve warm with whipped cream or cold.
