Step 1: Place butter and oil in 2 qt pan over medium heat.
Step 2: When butter is melted, add onion and garlic; cook until onion is tender.
Step 3: Add rice, cook, stirring constantly, 3 minutes or until rice looks milky and opaque.
Step 4: Add salt, oregano, cumin, turmeric and broth; bring to a boil.
Step 5: Cover; reduce heat and simmer 20-25 minutes or until rice is tender and all liquid is absorbed.
Step 6: Peel and pit avocado, the dice.
Step 7: Fluff up rice with fork; add avocado and toss gently.
Step 8: Turn off heat, then allow to stand 5 minutes before serving.
