Step 1: Cream sugar and shortening.
Step 2: Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Step 3: Sift dry ingredients together, add to creamed mixture.
Step 4: Add milk and vanilla, then add nuts.
Step 5: Fold in egg whites gently DONT OVER-MIX.
Step 6: Pour into greased floured 9x13 cake pan
Step 7: BAKE AT 300 DEGREES FOR 30 TO 35 MINUTES TIL TOOTHPICK COMES CLEAN.(no time given )
