Step 1: Combine oil and butter in a heavy saucepan.
Step 2: Heat together over high heat until butter is melted.
Step 3: Add onions and cook for about 2 minutes.
Step 4: Add salt, pepper, and broth.
Step 5: Cover, reduce heat, and simmer about 10 minutes.
Step 6: Add Bourbon and cook until the sauce is slightly reduced.
