Step 1: Bring cream and brown sugar to a rolling boil, stirring constantly.
Step 2: Make a thickening of flour, milk, and egg yolks.
Step 3: Add to sugar mixture, tempering first before you add it; add a little of hot mixture and stir like crazy.
Step 4: Let boil again for 1 minute.
Step 5: Add vanilla and salt.
Step 6: Pour into baked pie shell.
Step 7: Cool.
Step 8: Spread stiffly beaten egg whites on top.
Step 9: Bake in 450 degree Fahrenheit oven until whites are cooked, about 5 minutes.
