Step 1: Mix together the creamy chili sauce ingredients and set aside.
Step 2: Mix cornstarch, flour, and seasonings until well blended; add beer and mix well.
Step 3: Cut about 3/4" off top of onion and peel.
Step 4: Cut into onion 12 to 16 vertical wedges, but do not cut through bottom root end.
Step 5: Remove about 1" of petals from center of onion. Dip onion in seasoned
Step 6: Flour and remove excess by shaking. Separate petals and dip in batter
Step 7: To coat thoroughly. Gently place in fryer basket and deep−fry at
Step 8: 375 to 400 1 1/2 minutes. Turn over, and fry an additional 1 1/2 minutes.
Step 9: Drain on paper towels.
Step 10: Place onion upright in shallow bowl and remove center core with circular
Step 11: Cutter or apple corer.
Step 12: Serve with the creamy chili sauce.
