Step 1: After draining and rinsing beans from overnight soak,place into crockpot.
Step 2: In a medium skillet over medium heat add oil and heat until hot but not smoking,cook sausage and onion until sausage is browned and onion is soft.
Step 3: Add meat/onions over beans,cover with chicken broth.
Step 4: Then add seasonings, stirring well to combine.
Step 5: After cooking for 3 hours check to see if more broth is needed.
Step 6: Cook on low for another 3 hours or until beans are tender.
