Ingredients
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped dried dates
- 1 cup walnuts (black walnuts or 1 cup pecans)
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries (drained, cut fine)
- LEMON ICING
- 1 teaspoon lemon rind
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
How to Make

Step 1: Beat egg sugar and vanilla.

Step 2: Sift dry ingredients in fold in dates and cherries and nuts.

Step 3: Bake in shallow 13 1/2x9 1/2 pan at 350 for 25 minutes until lightly browned.

Step 4: Mix icing. Brush over top while warm cut into bars when cool.
