Step 1: Mix ... Add the applesauce, milk sugar, butter, to a bowl; and, mix to combine. Slowly stir in the baking mix until you get a fairly smooth consistency. Don't worry about getting all the lumps out; you don't want to over mix. Taste the batter ... if you like your batter a bit sweeter, add a bit more sugar. It really depends on what type of applesauce you use. You can also add a bit of cinnamon; or, if you don't plan to serve it with a fruit compote - you can add dried fruit. Cranberries are my favorite, but dried cherries are very good as well.
Step 2: Bake ... Drop large spoonfuls of the mix to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, you can also use a non-stick spray. Bake on the middle shelf, in a 425 degree oven; for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. This makes about 6 biscuits.
Step 3: Serve and ENJOY! ... Cool, slice in half; and, serve with fresh fruit, ice cream, or a dollop of whipped cream. I like my 'Caramelized Spiced Apples,' but, any fruit topping would be delicious. You can also serve warm - it is delicious topped with a caramel ice cream. It is just a nice twist on the classic shortcake. http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/mascerated-strawberries-with-pomegranates-apples-and-pears-16089, this is also a nice topping for this shortcake.
