Step 1: First ... I normally cook my rice in broth. It adds lots of flavor - but, not necessary. Also, I usually add a teaspoon of butter to my rice if served plain; but, if there is a sauce to go with it - I usually don't add the butter.
Step 2: Rice ... Cook the rice according to package directions. Again, I like to use broth, but water is just fine. Add the thyme sprigs in with the rice as it cooks.
Step 3: Flavor ... Once the rice is cooked; remove the thyme sprigs, fluff with a fork, add the orange marmalade, scallions - and, toss to combine.
Step 4: Serve and ENJOY! ... Now, it's ready to serve. However, if you wanted to make it a 'bit more' special; try adding slivered almonds, or macadamia nuts. Shredded toasted coconut, or dried cranberries and pecans. The point is - the flavored cooking liquid, along with the sweetness of the marmalade, really adds TONS of flavor, with NO work. And, turns plain rice, into something special.
