Step 1: Soak bran flakes in milk for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Step 3: Combine egg and bran/milk mixture. Add melted shortening. Add to dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
Step 4: Cook on hot griddle. Turn only once.
Step 5: Spread with butter and jelly and roll up.
Step 6: Sprinkle with brown sugar.
Step 7: Serve.
