Step 1: Heat oil in a heavy skillet.
Step 2: Season the short ribs with salt and pepper.
Step 3: Add short ribs to pan and sear on all sides.
Step 4: Place the 4 slices onion on the botton of the Crock Pot.
Step 5: Place a short rib on each onion slice.
Step 6: Add potatoes, carrots and parsnips.
Step 7: Sprinkle in the chopped garlic.
Step 8: Pour in the tomatoes and chili sauce.
Step 9: Turn crock pot on low
Step 10: Cook for 5-6 hours
Step 11: The meat should be falling off the bones
Step 12: Serve and enjoy
