Bourbon Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients
- 4 T(1/2 stick) unsalted butter plus more for baking dish
- 4-6 sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced about 1/2-inch thick
- Coarse salt and fresh ground black pepper
- 1/2 c firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c bourbon
- 2 T sorghum, cane or maple syrup
How to Make

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350ยบ.

Step 2: Butter an ovenproof baking dish.

Step 3: Arrange sweet potato slices in the prepared dish, and season with salt and pepper.

Step 4: In a lg saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, bourbon and syrup and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 5: As soon as the sauce is boiling, pour it over the potatoes.

Step 6: Bake the casserole, basting and turning the potatoes occasionally, until they are soft and tender, 45-60 minutes.

Step 7: Taste and adjust for seasoning with salt & pepper.
