Step 1: Grease a nine-inch, springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper; set aside.
Step 2: In a small saucepan, heat the Guinness and butter until butter is melted.
Step 3: Remove from the heat; whisk in sugar and cocoa until blended.
Step 4: Combine the eggs, sour cream and vanilla; whisk into the beer mixture.
Step 5: Combine flour and baking soda; whisk into the beer mixture until smooth. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
Step 6: Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
Step 7: Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Remove sides of pan when completely cool.
Step 8: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until fluffy.
Step 9: Add confectioners’ sugar and cream; beat until smooth, but DO NOT over-beat.
Step 10: Remove the cake from the pan and place on a platter or cake stand.
Step 11: Ice the top of the cake so that it resembles a frothy pint of beer.
Step 12: If you have any, refrigerate the leftovers.
