Step 1: Mixed Fruit Salad with a Basil Mint Dressing.
Step 2: Simply a nice way to "jazz" up a basic fruit salad. Now, you can use any fruit you like. But, I prefer to use a mix of melon, strawberries, blueberries, mango, etc. The best thing you can do, is to use fruit that in season.
Step 3: Fruit (8 cups): watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries.
Step 4: Simple Syrup ... Add the water and sugar to a small cup, and microwave 30 seconds until the sugar is dissolved and the water is warm. It may take a few seconds longer depending on your microwave. Then transfer to the refrigerator to cool.
Step 5: Dressing ... Add all the ingredients (except the honey) to a small bowl or measuring cup and mix.
Step 6: Finish, Serve, and ENJOY! ... Add the dressing to the fruit and toss. Sometimes, depending on the sweetness of the fruit, I will add a little drizzle of honey too.
Step 7: Garnish with fresh herbs. Orange liquor, brandy, or amaretto all can be used. They all taste great in the salad. And most importantly, use fruits that are in season.
