  • 4 to 5 bread slices (French bread, cut into 1-inch pieces, bread must be a couple days old)
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced (or 1 apple and 1/2 cup fresh blueberries)
  • 1/4 to 1/3 granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • Caramel Sauce

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350ยบ F. Butter a pie plate, or spray with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.

  • Step 2: In a large bowl toss the stale bread cubes with chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and salt.

  • Step 3: In a small bowl whisk the eggs. Mix in milk and vanilla. Drizzle over the bread mixture, then toss coating them. Transfer into prepared pie plate.

  • Step 4: Bake for 20 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the middle.

  • Step 5: Allow to set for about 5 minutes before serving.

  • Step 6: Drizzle with caramel sauce for serving.
