Step 1

Combine dry frosting mix with corn syrup, almond extract, boiling water and a few drops coloring (if desired) in a mixer bowl.

Step 2

Beat on highest speed until stiff peaks form.

Step 3

Transfer to large mixer bowl and on low speed or by hand, gradually blend in icing sugar.

Step 4

Stir in cherries.

Step 5

Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper.

Step 6

When outside of candy feels firm, turn over. Dry at least 12 hours.
