"This is a great tasting casserole I make quite often. It is like cabbage rolls but the meat is not rolled into a cabbage leaf. If making gluten free make sure you use gluten free insatant rice, bread crumbs and onion soup mix."

Wow, all the flavor without all the work. We loved this cooked on high for 5 hours and it was perfect. Thanks for sharing a new family favorite. Made FYC Tag Game.

Excellent! I boiled my cabbage after dinner last night and then proceeded to make the meatballs, etc... Then I threw it all in the crockpot before going to bed last night. I woke up to the best aroma this morning! I have already portioned some out to take for my work lunch today and have LOTS left over for my lunches the next two days (and then some - think I'll try freezing the rest). I couldn't resist eating some this morning (shhh!). It's pure comfort food. I just love those classic flavors. I'm the only one in my family who likes stuffed cabbage rolls, so I never take the time to make them. This recipe is the perfect solution for me! The only change I might make next time is to add a bit of salt when adding the pepper. I know there's salt in the onion mix, but I'd like just a touch more. Thank you for posting this winner!

Oh my, this was so good! Made for the FYC Tag Game, I know we are in the minority, but DH & I think of cabbage as "comfort food" & this is 1 of the best ways we've found to indulge in cabbage comfort. Like the other reviewers, I skipped pre-cooking the cabbage & don't see it as really necessary unless the cabbage is tough as nails & your slow cooker is unusually SLOW. The only other chg I made was to add generous shots of garlic powder atop the loaded crockpot B4 cooking on the low setting. This was an easy-to-fix 1-dish meal for us & was paired w/baguette bread only. Thx for sharing this recipe w/us. :-)

Yummy. I was craving cabbage rolls, and this hit the spot. Very tasty. My meatballs started falling apart, but it didn't stop our enjoyment of dinner. Thanks Bea!!

My family loved this casserole! It was so easy and we loved the mix of flavors!. We had it with French bread toasted in the oven with garlic butter. Yummy!
