What Are You Reading 2025
What Are You Reading 2025
Having had a challenging year my read time was limited as was posting reviews. Enjoyed the books I did read with Kristen Hannah's 'The Women' my top choice for 2024. Was not surprised to see it the most borrowed book at our Provincial Library.
For those of us who love books how fortunate that along with our home and local libraries we also have e libraries with books just a click away.
Having just had a wonderful 'designated 18 day at home family holiday' I am just about to check out Ellie's year end reads and finally get to ‘Pumpkin: The Racoon Who Thought He Was A Dog’ by Laura Young. Welcoming our members to come on in and share their favorite reads.
Sending healing thoughts to Shadows and hope he will soon be feeling well enough to share his reviews.

Also read "The Women" a few months ago and really enjoyed it. Now back to Caleb's Crossing, a very different book. Also read the "Frozen River" by Ariel Lawhon is an outstanding book about a midwife (Martha Ballard) and the novel is taken from her diary (1735-1812). Two very different books but are the best I have read in a long time.
"Salt to the Sea" by Ruta Sepetys also just came off of holds. Historical fiction (WWII) about 4 people who try to escape the advancing Soviet army in East Prussia by boarding a doomed ship, which results in now of the greatest maritime disasters in history -- and how the individuals face the tragedy.

Ellie, I have added both 'Frozen River' by Ariel Lawhon and 'Salt To The Sea' by Ruta Sepetys to Holds. Lovinretirement I have added 'The Unfinished Gift' to my kindle Cloud Reader. Thank you for your reviews!
My first read of the year was 'Pumpkin: The Raccoon Who Thought She Was a Dog ' "a sweet, unique look at an adorable household pet, captured in gorgeous, never-before-seen photographs" Expecting a 'Marley and Me' kind of book this heartwarming book surprised me, a quick read with photos that do capture your heart as promised.
I got a start on 'The Witness Wore Red: The 19th Wife Who Brought Polygamous Cult Leaders to Justice ' a #1 Best Seller Rebecca Musser, "the revealing memoir of one woman who was forced into polygamous marriage and her brave struggle to protect others from the same fate" It had me think to a long ago read 'The Twenty-Seventh Wife ' by best selling author Irving Wallace, "The life of Ann Elizabeth Young the 27th wife of Brigham Young who helped end the Mormon practice of polygamy.
Looking forward to more of our members joining us here at our Library Forum.

I was intrigued by today’s BookBub offering which had me adding a light hearted book to my weekend read. Added ‘A Wolf Called Romeo' by Nick Jans to my kindle Cloud Reader.
It is “the true story of the exceptional black wolf who spent seven years interacting with the people and dogs of Juneau, Alaska” New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Marshall Thoma declared it to be “One of the best books I’ve read in a great many years”

this sounds interesting! I will check the library -- I borrow from the on-line library. How do you add a book to the cloud reader. I now use Libby and books I read go through an amazon reading program and I have to be on-line to read the books. With my old kindle I was able to download books so I did not have to be on-line all the time.Gerry wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 5:16 pmEllie, sounds like I will be enjoying a good book when 'Salt To The Sea ' comes off of Holds. I have always enjoyed your recommends.
