I found Nancy Horans first book Loving Frank' one of the best historical fiction novels I have read in years. Being well aware that Frank Lloyd Wright was an absolute genius in design and a famous architect had no idea as to his personal life. The book is based on actual events and what back in the day was considered a scandalous love affair between Wright and Mamah Borthwick Cheney to the point it almost ruined his career.

Admittedly being family orientated I could not understand how a woman could leave her children and a husband who loved her dearly behind and a man no matter how famous desert his wife and six children. At times Horan's writing had me feel Frank and Mamah were soul mates, times almost loving them, but for most part frustrated with both Frank and Mamah seeing them as two self absorbed people and Frank very irresponsible. While there are mixed reviews, I go with the many highly recommending Loving Frank for anyone enjoying historical fiction.

Just finished "last Stand " by William H. Weber. A good read about after the down fall of the U.S.
I am now reading "The Girl You Lost " by Kathryn Croft, am interesting read from a woman's prospective of her search for her daughter that was abducted twenty years ago.

Just came from Amazon, 'The Girl You Lost' has also been added to my digital Cloud Reader, and at a great price I might add!

Today's mail sees me needing to make another eye appointment ... please, please let my eyes improve ... you could say with the library stash I have on hand I am being super optimistic. When I get a little discouraged I always remember my specialist's words when I told her I needed to be able to read as I once did "I am so so sorry I cannot do more than sharpen up what you have right now but remember there are many who cannot read at all" Still hoping .... :)

Have you looked into the voice option on Amazon books? If you have Prime you can get most books in that format for little or no extra cost.

Thank you for the suggesting the option one I know people enjoy, know a number of young people find it great when travelling or busy around the house.

Have to love the options of the day, years back I would not have had a digital library with a large computer screen allowing larger print. While not quite the same as reading a book it does work! And of course there are large print books.

What doesn't work are the books that are not digitally available. Just yesterday picked up Jack Olson's book re the Campbell trial ... paper back, small print and faded yellowed pages. About to look for my small magnifier hoping to manage to do the read. Knowing Sjogrens can be progressive, when the time comes I am more than open to the audio books! :)

Hello everybody!
I've been a lurker for quite awhile and saw that the "what are you reading" thread has started up again so that was a great surprise. I'm normally a mystery thriller reader but saw a recommendation here for historical read "Loving Frank" and thought I'd give it a go. I was very pleased with the book and actually found myself with tears after the aftermath of the fire in the story. I'm very glad I tried it out.
Now I'm starting "What Alice Forgot" by Liane Moriarty. It sounds good too. Anyway, I'll be posting here with my readings so keep your recommendations coming!!!!

Just finished 2 freebee sci-fi books that do not merit mention.
I have just started "The Innocent " by David Baldacci. So far well written and holding my attention. It is about dark operations for the government from one hit-mans view.

Hi Tigger, good to see you! Have to agree 'Loving Frank' is one compelling read, seeing online recommends it was off to Amazon to order 'Death In A Prairie House: Frank Lloyd Wright and The Taliesin Murders which I now have on my Cloud Reader. Decided a change of pace might be good, will get back to it later.

Have Liann Moriart's 'What Alice Forgot' on Hold on my Library2go, am next in line which should see to a digital copy coming my way in the next few days. Thinking it will make for a good read. :)

While waiting for my e library Hold Liann Moriarty's 'What Alice Forgot as well as looking to something in the lighter vein, animal lover that I am couldn't resist starting my Amazon copy of Charlotte Smith's 'Paw Prints In Oman'. Said to be a heartwarming well written memoir of a job offer that saw her and her husband living in Oman for seven years. Hoping this book is as good as I am expecting it to be!
