Hopefully we remember our history so we don't repeat our mistakes.
Just heard this quote on a PBS program of Great Performances: Ellis Island" from an immigrant in the early 1900's coming from a country in Europe that had a lot of hate.
"Where there is hate, you lose yourself. Where there is hate, there is nothing left."

so true!

I think this is a great weekend to remember our history, whatever it may be to each person.

I am currently working on a sampler about Ellis Island -- my family didn't come to the US thought there but the history is wonderful and really enjoy reading and hearing about everyone's individual history, especially this weekend.

So frightening to see banning of books, tearing down works of art all of which is part of our history as we know it. History is history banning, burning, destroying can never change it. Worse in the doing has me think to 1939. When will we ever learn.
