Hiya Karen,

Good to see you here. I love pot lucks, so much good food...... We have quite a few pot lucks throughout the summer months. Gerry has many great potluck recipes, you must check her recipes out. My favourite of hers is her http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/potluc ... salad-2231

It really is great to see Karin joining us, and thank you Bea I suspect we are like minded when it comes to recipes! But ... guess what I made for that Ontario gathering - yes #recipe2231 :)

What a great question, Karin. All these ideas in one thread!
One more -- for future use and adaptation:

I'm in love with the variations that Kim adds to her basic recipes, and I plan to use a version of this at our 4th of July cookout. I plan to use mini-skewers and take them on a platter with deviled eggs. A basic change is that I will marinate everything instead of serving dressing on the side. My skewers will hold cheese tortellini, cherry tomatoes, and olives (both black and green). The number of children and teens both dictate and limit choices for me (no kalamata olives, for instance), but others will be in my own recipe alternatives for future use.

Hope you have fun.

Thanks everyone for the really great ideas, I saved a ton of things to try. I banged up my foot at work badly ( I have a desk job and I kicked the corner of the desk ) and have a very bruised and swollen foot. I am not going anywhere for the weekend.

My husband and the boys are going and they are bringing a big bag or two of locally made kettle corn and mixing in red, white and blue candies.

I can't wait to try so many of these recipes ( when I can stand for a bit again ). Karen

So sorry Karen, sorry you are going to miss out on the fun. Impressed that hubby and boys are doing the kettle corn and mixing in red, white and blue candies. Hoping just maybe you will find the swelling down and be able to join them. (((Hugs)) :)

That sounds like my kind of salad, Recipe printed, the ingredients on my shopping list hoping I can find them in the city. Looking forward to making that pasta salad,
