Easter Potlucks - share your special recipes!
Saskatchewan has to be the land of potlucks, it's no secret that I, my family and those in our community love potluck gatherings especially come holiday celebrations. There's always a variety of great foods to try, in our small community everyone knows everyone so we assure we bring our very best! For those special occasions be I hosting or adding to the make and takes, I made a practice of adding one or two new to us recipes.
Come Easter weekend be you hosting Easter Sunday, attending an Easter Sunday Brunch or as at our house planning weekend meals for family traveling in, share your favorite recipes. At our house we have the must makes, the Easter Brunches, the weekend family gatherings, the Sunday Brunch after the Sunday service ... always the fun potluck dishes rounding out the table!
Lets get together and share our Easter menus, special savoury appetizers, mains, sides, spring salads and desserts. The sharing of our Easter recipes would be perfect for those looking to special spring events as well. Come on in, share your special recipes, menus, savoury appetizers, mains, sides, spring salads and desserts. Photos welcome!

Easter has always been a special time at our house with family travelling in, the gathering can begin as early as Thursday. It makes for wonderful family time. Never really sure just how many, I plan the meals so there is plenty of food to round out the table yet allow plenty of time for family visiting. Having family add their favouties dishes always makes for wonderful surprises. Turkey and ham are a given! The rest for most part changes from year to year, but always plenty of appetisers, vegetable dishes, salads and of course a dessert or two.
One of our favourite dishes turkey and dressing.

Another given, glazed carrots, one of daughters specialities - guess who will be making the carrots!

Even though I have my traditions for Easter; I have attended some Easter potlucks here and there - especially ones that happen not necessarily on Easter day.
At work we always had one, as well as our neighborhood. They were lots of fun; but, these dishes also work for family potlucks too.
These are some of my favorites. Not a lot of other links, I have many; but, I thought I would start with ones that I have made at potlucks I attended.
-----------------------------
- Glazed carrots and mashed potatoes/or cauliflower are already taken.
- This is a great recipe, I have not posted it yet, but 3/4 classic mashed potatoes and 1/4 pureed peas. A little prepared horseradish sauce. Delish
This is my favorite ham dip which is different served in a bread bowl which I enjoy
- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/saraso ... -bowl-5897, served with the bread from the bread bowl, crackers, and crackers; even small boiled new potatoes.
- The bacon wrapped bread sticks, also a fave to start the night for a potluck
- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipes/searc ... led%20eggs; any deviled eggs are always good
- And this is a creamy artichoke casserole which is easy and a favorite, great for buffets. http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/creamy ... serole-469
- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/baked- ... erole-8508
- This is also another recipe which I have not posted - a creamy artichoke bread. Creamy and cheesy. Will be posting today or tomorrow. Another good Potluck dish
This is a great brunch dish:

- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/zucchi ... erole-1230
- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/easy-h ... erole-6361
For cocktails, my family always did Bloody Mary's or a simple Champagne or sparkling wine with OJ, Mango Juice, Peach Juice, even grape juice. Very simple.
--------------------------------
Just a few things to think about ... I don't like to bake much, so not much help on the bread of dessert end. I usually just make some simple ABM rolls; and dessert I never eat

Re: Easter Potlucks - share your special recipes!
Welcome, these are just some I grew up with and make as stand by recipes. I have many others I have tried and equally as good. There are many many good recipes on here from side dishes to main dishes.
For East, I have found with potlucks, the host usually makes the main dish; so, I don't try to compete ... this may vary from family to family. But with my friends, Ham, turkey, and lamb are usually the main course; so sides are anything that work with that.

When we gather on Friday our evening meal will be our tradional Baked Salmon (recipe not posted ) and our Potato and Vegetable Grill, both of which my grandson makes to perfection.

I will add the salads, Coleslaw and a Ceasar Salad for those who are not fond of cabbage - I know how can anyone not be fond of coleslaw! But since one of them is is making the salmon and the vegetable grill I'll add one of their favorite salads.

Come holiday time or gatherings baked ham is a must make at our house. One of our favourite recipes for special ocassions is our Holiday Ham. This year I may pick up two smaller hams and make both Holiday Ham and Bergy's glazed ham for Easter Saturday.

Making ham for Easter? Try this super easy foil method to bake your ham. How easy is it to make that foil bundle to bake your Easter ham - super easy!
Here is our Holiday Ham http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/holiday-ham-8741 all wrapped and ready for the oven. I always add about an inch of water to the roasting pan, checking ocassionally to keep it topped up. Makes for awesome tasting ham that not only has great taste but is both tender and juicy as well. Each and every time!
Picked up the two smaller hams yesterday, this year will be adding Bergy's http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/baked-ham-glaze-8079 to our Easter Saturday family supper along side our tradional baked ham.
