Late start but Summer is here!

Post by Tisme » Sat Jan 28, 2017 2:41 am

I have roasted, stewed, jammed, chutnied and sauced my way plums, and I still have these left ...Any ideas :?: So much so I am getting physically sick looking at recipes!
I am going to bottle & freeze what is left but I still have this PLUS 5 more bags to go!
I had to pick them before the birds got them, but with the warm weather they are ripening as I type! :?
I would like more to preserve them than freeze them, but if I have to freeze them I will. But also with this warm weather baking is not a great option as it is too warm. :?
I know some of you will have some idea's. TIA.

Sure wish it was summer here in the northern hemisphere.
About the plums, you could give them to a local homeless shelter. Or call a local church and see if they have a food pantry, and a group of young people to come and pick them.

I just went through the same with my peaches.
Do you hace a juicer?
I ended up making peach jelly and hot pepper peach jelly by juicing a TON of peaches.
It came out very good.

How about just making some plum sauce the same as apple sauce or mix the two together

Now there's an idea elleLee! :)
