I don't know about Phil, but up here in NH, Bucky, who lives outside near the woods where I live told me he didn't see a darn thing, and the spring is right around the cornerKchurchill5 wrote:Sorry everyone Phil saw his shadow, I guess 6 more weeks of winter!

Re: Groundhog Update
We have had a very mild winter here in New Hampshire. We had an early snow storm and got around 14" all at once in October just in time for the kids to go trick or treating, and then a few small storms but nothing compared to the past 2 years that I have been back here. I am loving it.... Spring is in the air... I can almost feel it haha!

You know, I have had rabbit, different game, elk, ostrich, different seafoods, etc.
But something about eating Phil just didn't sound right. But it is actually quite wildly ate which I didn't realize.
I stick with chicken thank you!

Growing up on a farm, I know animals can predict thunder storms. Our horses would act crazy wild for up to 24 hours before the storm even hit. Not sure how they knew, but they did.
Phil? It is folklore that has come from Germany. It is a festival there and it actually used to be a badger. I have no idea why we do a groundhog, since we have badgers in this country. But it is a tradition now and we even have a day devoted to it! I think its fun, and he has about a 40% rate of accuracy. It is just a thing we do now and people participate because its fun to see what he says, isn't it?
