aspect ratio for photos?
I am new here and in posting a few photos have figured out that I may not be using the correct aspect ratio. I am using 4:3, but wondering if it should be 3:2? I could not find this answer elsewhere. For instance, on my http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/tijuana-hot-dog-17923 the default bigger photo on top has part of the photo cut off vs. the bottom smaller one (where multiple photos would be) you can see the whole picture. Would it help if I made them less square, or will the cut off always be there and and I just need to allow a little extra space for that?

I never change the ratio, but, I change the size to 600 for the largest width or height. 600 will fill the page; but, not get cut off. Obviously you can go smaller; but, that is what I use.

I'd tried asking this same question in customer support without luck.
3:2 is close for the default here, but it is not resized like that every time.
Personally, I would rather be able to view the photo in its original aspect ratio at whatever max pixels they use, while maintaining the proportions. If not in the default view, then by a popup viewer.

Re: aspect ratio for photos?
Thanks so much guys, this is really helpful. I don't take a lot of photos and am not very good at it, so not sure how to do anything about the pixels. I like the photos best taken from my digital camera, but then I always want to crop them - so have to choose what ratio to crop to - fooddotcom was always 4:3 landscape only. This leads me to a new question, do portrait ones work just as well here?

Ok, I thought you were uploading to a site where you can "fix" them, and then share them via a link. I love photobucket. Great site.
Nothing wrong with the way you are doing it, just diff from the way I do it. To share them on this site, photobucket is the way to go. It does all the work for you and even gives you the link to share in chat on a thread. It also has all the editing features, plus it puts your pics in icloud, to save them.

TinyPic!! Whoop Whoop!
And I don't have to have an account to use it, even though I think I did back in the day.
But for reviewing recipes on my phone I don't know if I'll use it.
