Morning Gang!

An early am once again ... CATS! If I close the door ,,, they just scratch it. No chance of sleeping past 4:30 at mi casa,

Today's Cooking ...

Ladies #1 and #2: Turkey meatloaf w/mustard glaze; sweet mashed potatoes; roasted green beans

Me: Grilled smoked sausage w/peppers and onions (I have a few peppers to use up); creamy corn and cucumber salad; fruit.
Trying to avoid carbs tonight.

I had cheesy grits last night with my shrimp; so, leftovers this am was the grits topped with a fried egg. I figured 2 meals with cream, cheese, and grits ... I could use a carb break tonight, ;)

Morning all!

Wow, I wish I had someone to cook for me, some days ;)

I made Martha Stewart's mom's recipe for meatloaf last night. I use 1# ground beef and 1# ground veal, topped it with bacon, HOT DAYEM it was so good with the usual mashed taters & gravy.
Also made a Fennel & Apple slaw w/ walnuts & blue cheese. I loved it, DH not as much.

I have no clue what I'll make tonight for dinner. Coming up with an idea is half the battle, for me.

Enjoy your day everyone!

Hey CC, dinner sounded wonderful. I love fennel slaw, delicious!
I think you did a pretty good job coming up with that menu.

Sometimes it is hard to come up with something.
I have a email (draft) I never close or send. I just update it.
It has my menu for the week; plus notes at the bottom.

Including - tons of recipes or ideas I want to make. Also food I need to buy.
I can check it daily, see what there is; and match that against what I have on hand.

I also check my pantry and freezer every Sun. I just write down a few notes and add that to my email too.

Like this week, I wrote down, flour sandwich wraps, ribs, pork tenderloin, marinated chicken, ham bone and ham.

So, guess what is on the menu next week or two. Leftover ribs; probably a BBQ pork sandwich, ham and bean soup or split pea; and probably a grilled chicken wrap sandwich.
And, since they are in the freezer ... I can use them up over the next couple of weeks; and, fill in with anything else I want to add.

The puffballs were everything I wanted them to be and more! The two he brought me ended up being enough for three meals for the two of us, sliced about 1/2-inch thick. YUM!!! :D

Dinner tonight is happening at my bar. Monday Night Football, Lions-Giants, kickoff 7:10pm. We're throwing a huge thing with drink specials and a chili dog/chips & cheese buffet. Well, not actually my bar... I just go there a lot.

Morning,

Felix, sounds like fun; hope you had a nice time.

I got so busy with working outside last night; I didn't feel like cooking. Subway is 1/2 mile up the street. A veggie 6" sub, and some fruit. I was good.

Back to my grilled smoked sausage/kielbasa, creamy corn and cucumber salad; and, fruit salad. I have some nice whole wheat rolls in the freezer - maybe one of those.

I'm sure there are leftovers we can eat tonight. It would seem that while I can still party like a rockstar when my Lions actually play a fabulous game, I cannot recover like one.

It was amazing, though! I realize it was only the first game of the regular season, but any time you can not only lead but decisively beat a Manning team is a good time. And then to follow it up by the Chargers losing (as I said last night, it's not being a Cardinals fan, it's being *not* a Chargers fan) in another excellent game made the whole night pretty darn great.

Tonight's Dinner:
Since there was about half a can of salmon left from a CQ
recipe, that's going to be mixed with a can of drained tuna.
I'm going to make a variation of,
#recipe4405.

I'm WORKING tonight!!!!!! Through a scheduling snafu my first day back will be for about 4-5 hours tonight instead of 16-18 tomorrow, and I am perfectly OK with that. Had I been awake at 8:20 this morning when the text came in that the day had changed I would have been there already, but I didn't hear it. Nine months off, and I'm finally going back. I'm simultaneously \:D/ and :-SS

Dinner tonight is a recipe for beer pork chops from Get Crocked, along with #recipe7495 (I've got about 12 ounces of baby bellas that need to be used today, so I'm making a lot), and I've got about a million cherry tomatoes I need to do something with, so some kind of tomato salad with fresh herbs and some kind of homemade vinaigrette.
