Re: Can recipe #13523 Aunt Melzie Hot mustard be canned?

I've done 2 batches and so far it has worked fine. It takes a bit more cornstarch to get it to thicken (guessing because I'm making a slurry - not using much water). My "testers" said it tastes good. I can't taste due to my radiation treatment. do you think Cranberry salsa (recipe #7583) could be ca...

Re: Can recipe #13523 Aunt Melzie Hot mustard be canned?

I did a quick search on Xanthan gum. It is a thickening agent, which is what the eggs are used for in this recipe. The web also says you can use corn starch 1:1 for Xanthan gum. I may try the cornstarch since I doubt I can find Xanthan here in Tyler. If I used the cornstarch then I should be able to...

Can recipe #13523 Aunt Melzie Hot mustard be canned?

This is one of my recipes I've posted here, I'm trying to figure out if I can hot water bath it to can it. The ag extension office said since the recipe was so old they couldn't say yes. The egg is cooked during the process of making the mustard.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Which veggie to use instead of mushrooms

Interesting, I never notice a flavor to mushrooms. I love them but always looked at them like a sponge to absorb the other flavors. I must be blinded by my love of mushrooms. :P

Help, Please!

My FIL has been diagnosed with a type of cancer that will make it difficult for him to swallow. I am looking for soup recipes that can be canned. I normally do hot water bath canning but from what I have read I will need to get a pressure canner for soups. Any guidance and/or adaptable recipes would...

Re: Cuisinart Electric Pressure Cooker

Thanks everyone! I am still on the fence. I like the idea of being able to cook "long cook" recipes in a shorter amount of time but will it be another gadget for my gadget shelf.

Cuisinart Electric Pressure Cooker

I searched to see if this already been discussed but I didn't really find anything. Does anyone have an electric pressure cooker? If so, do you like it? Pros/cons? Thanks!

Re: Crescent Rolls

Kittencal, I am going to try to freeze some of them. Earls will let me know if they are not up to par. You gotta love a 12 year old foodie! At least he gets it honest. Mom2Ava, please share! (Guess I probably need to do a search--sorry VERY long day) I am trying to get different breakfast ideas for ...
