"This is a hearty bread that can be eaten for breakfast. It is also sweet and can be a dessert or snack, too. I found this several years ago on and have been making it ever since. Sultana raisins are the same as golden raisins here in the US. I have to use California (grape) raisins in place of the currants, which are different in size. 16 servings would be 8 slices per loaf. The original recipe said 4 servings!"

Very interesting bread -- I made 2 loaves plus 1 mini loaf with this recipe. I doubled the raisins (although I didn't measure them) and used 2 Earl Grey tea bags for the tea. I was out of allspice so skipped that but otherwise made as directed. It is a dense bread filled with raisins which my family enjoyed. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing your lovely recipe. It tasted as good as it smelled while baking. I soaked the fruits overnight, and made the recipe as written. It resulted in a dense sweet tea bread. The bread was filled with raisins and currants. I loved it. Served it warm with a little butter and coffee. So happy I tried this tasty treat. Made for Only the Lonely Tag Game.
